Middle market companies saw a sharp uptick in cyberattacks in the past year, according to an RSM US Middle Market Business Index survey. Many middle market executives indicated that they faced new IT safety challenges amid the pandemic-induced shift to remote work.

To strengthen cybersecurity efforts, businesses must assess physical, virtual and personnel vulnerabilities from various attack scenarios, including remote work processes and practices. Additionally, businesses should develop an enterprise security program that complies with evolving data privacy regulations as well as establish an agile governance structure—across all facets of security—that aligns with their business strategy.
